Wendy Davis!

Today, while de-boarding my plane from LA to Dallas, I saw a very familiar woman sitting in first class. After a few double-takes, a flight attendant nearby whispered, "Yes, that's Wendy Davis." Wendy Davis was on my plane.

If you aren't already obsessed with Wendy Davis, you can read up on her here. She's running for governor here in Texas, and we were on the same flight! I ran to the parking lot to meet my mom, yelling, "Wendy Davis was on my flight!!" When my mom said I should have taken a picture, a man behind us said, "Would you like one?" It turns out he works for her, and went to find her and tell her that I wanted to meet her. She came outside, introduced herself, and was nice enough to take a picture with me! Senator Davis was probably the nicest person I have met, and it was amazing getting to meet someone whom I admire politically!

I'd like to thank Senator Davis for taking the time to take a picture with me! It was a huge honor!

Los Angeles Day 2: Abbot Kinney

It is technically Day 5 of my LA trip, but I've been so busy running around that I haven't had time to sit down and blog! I've barely been at my computer the past few days, but I am finally starting to catch up.

Sunday, or Day 2, we walked around the Hollywood farmer's market, and even though I didn't buy anything I loved seeing all the fresh fruits and vegetables, something that is rare in New York. I also fell in love with this mural- I have a bit of an obsession with Audrey Hepburn.

Sunday I left LA and headed out to Orange County to see Lydia and to pick up our friend Lauren, who had booked a trip last minute. I've been in the OC for the past couple of days but I'm headed back into LA for the last part of my trip today!

Sunday night Lydia and I went to Abbot Kinney in Venice (California not Italy), a trendy, hipster-ish street full of shops and restaurants that is apparently a hot spot for bloggers. Needless to say I took advantage of the murals on every corner for a photo op.

Driving down Venice Blvd. with the top down made me want to never leave this city.

Only Lydia and I would not see each other for a few days and still wear coordinating outfits.

Sunday was a relaxing day, I will have the other days of my trip up today and tomorrow! Until then, stay tuned and enjoy your own spring breaks!

El Centro and Central Park: Part 2

I'm finally getting around to finishing up my blog posts about our trip to Central Park last week! Now there will be a little bit of New York wedged in amongst my LA posts.

I have always loved Central Park, and as touristy as it is sometimes I really love being able to escape into a beautiful green space while still seeing skyscrapers poking up over the trees. The weather that day was absolutely incredible, and we all soon shed our winter coats and shoes. You know you are getting used to Northern weather when 50 degrees seems 'warm.'

I honestly could not live without these girls and they have made this year an incredible one.

Unfortunately, Sheep Meadow was closed, so we made our way to an open space just next to the meadow.

There were puppies everywhere!! If its one thing I love it's being run over by adorable little dogs.

Look at these cuties!

I love these girls more than I can possibly put into words.

I had a wonderful, perfect day in the park with my best friends. I'm so grateful for the wonderful friends I have at Hofstra.

An absolutely perfect day.

Los Angeles Day 1: LACMA

I am officially in love with the city of angels. Don't get me wrong, I love New York, but LA has definitely captured my heart. The warm weather, sunshine, and open spaces (at least compared to Long Island), plus spending a week with my best friend are just what I needed.

I was so excited about being in LA that I was up at 9 today (I am notoriously a late riser and am known to frequently sleep until noon). After a lovely breakfast and catching up on last night's episode of Hannibal, we headed out to LACMA, or the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. I love museums, and my favorite part about LACMA is that it is spread out across several different buildings, so you get to enjoy the lovely weather while moving between different exhibits.

My first stop when I land in California is always In N Out!

This is Chris Burden's "Urban Light" outside the LACMA, made of 202 restored street lamps from LA used during the 1930s and 1940s.

The giant sculpture that greets you when you walk into the museum.

Maybe it's my inner dancer but I have always loved Degas and his depictions of the ballet. Not to mention that Impressionism is my absolute favorite style of painting.

This was the COOLEST part of the museum- this is Jesus Rafael Soto's "Yellow Tubes," a bunch of long yellow plastic strings that hang from a net. When you walk in you feel like you are in an entire room full of the tubes, it made me feel so childlike! I can't explain why this was so much fun, you have to experience it yourself!

We had a lot of fun with plant for some reason.

These are all part of the Japanese art collection at LACMA, and the pieces as well as the building were stunning. The exhibit is in a spiral room where you walk up and down ramps to see different pieces, most of which were giant screens or intricate tapestries.

I am in love with this tiger- look at his eyes!

The elephant-looking creature in the background is a baku, a creature that eats nightmares. Always read the little plaques, you'll learn something new!

I am so grateful that I get to spend Spring Break with my best friend.

I wish I was going to be here for the DVF Journey of a Dress exhibit!
